"It was red and triangular"
Witness statement: "The photos are dated 2003, so I guess it was that long ago. I arrived home with my husband about 11.00 on a clear night and as we stood at the door, we saw what looked like the red light of a plane taking off. We are over the channel from Cardiff, so are under the airport flight path.
As we watched the light rose up very fast, went over our heads and disappeared over the horizon. Then it came back and arced to the other horizon. This happened a few times.
Each time, from a slightly different direction, always over us and completely silent. It took about 10 seconds to go one horizon to the other, too fast for a satellite and not as high.
I got the distinct impression that whoever was inside knew we were looking at it and went indoors. I was scared but my husband stayed outside and took photos, so I guess there were a few more passes. The photos are not good. They look like red dot smudges, so you have to zoom in a lot.
One shows the triangular shape and some other lights around. The other shows as a zigzag line because of the speed.
That year, several other people reported seeing something triangular and silent in the sky. this is around North Somerset, Portishead where we live, Nailsea, Yatton and Clevedon.
My husband is no worse for wear: He told me that his mother saw something one night. This would have been late 1970s. I think it was a light in the woodland when she happened to look out. Her health began to deteriorate after that and she needed her gall bladder removed. This may or may not have been connected." end.
