Three lights looking like satellites from the east heading west appeared
in a straight line, then were joined by another two lights flying in a straight
line.

Looked like something burning in the atmosphere heading in my direction.

The lights became brighter then began criss-crossing.

They were flying much higher than a nearby plane, then their speed slowed.

They stopped in a line then headed back in the direction they came towards,
the east; the lights gradually became fainter and disappeared.

In all - about 30 seconds.

Update received 12/11/16:

Hello Hilary and Kenneth,

I wrote down on a piece of paper what I saw on 30-07-2016 when I was at guard duty at a local family park in Landgraaf, The Netherlands. Just between 0:15 and 0:20 weird lights appeared in the sky, travelling in a straight line.

I saw on your website this post, on the same date I saw it:

This was exactly what I saw. It was so strange that I decided to document it and do research on it later. And now I stumbled upon your website, with someone reporting the same incident on the same date. I wanted to inform good people like yourself, who can store this information for future research.

Have a nice day, and thanks for taking your time to read my e-mail.

Greetings from the Netherlands.
