01-09-2010: Sighting
- Desborough, Kettering, Northants, UK
Time: 2145 to 2215
Location:
South by south-east of Desborough
Message: A very large ball of orange light took off rapidly and aprox 15 degrees off vertical. At 1/5th height of the night sky it began moving in direction of Alpha Ursae Majoris (north-west) at approx the same speed as a commercial aircraft.
It
seemed to flutter or vibrate as it's attitude was not constant and changed
from a violent orange glow to an intense white light.
As it
was moving away I could not tell if it increased speed.
I
trained my high res telescope on it and saw 4 bright white lights in a
diamond pattern.
The
formation disappeared from view or beyond my telescopes 300x mag
after 30 minutes.
I'm
ex-military and have seen a lot of nations aircraft on operations. I've
also spent a lot of time under the night-sky.
I've
never seen a rocket launch and I've found out that the one taking place
tonight in Kazahkstan isn't until later... therefore, I cannot explain
what I saw.
Perhaps
it was ET 'going home'.
I
will look again when star-gazing and keep a camera to hand.
