Welcome to B.E.A.M.S.

Founded in 1991, our society consists of a
team of active reporters and field investigators who
factually gather, study and disseminate evidence relating to Earth Mysteries, (e.g. Ley Lines, Terrestrial Energies and Ancient Site Anomalies), Strange Aerial Happenings, (e.g. Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs), and The Paranormal, (e.g. Spirit and Psychic Phenomena).

The A338 UFO (1967) With Important Witness Update! A little known case which is reminiscent of the Cash Landrum UFO story.

"Close encounters of the second kind, multiple witnesses, took place in Avon and Sopley Hampshire, UK. Date: 6th November 1967.

Sometime between 1:00AM and 2:00AM Carl Farlow was driving a truck loaded with domestic cookers on the A338 trunk road between the villages of Sopley and Avon in Hampshire England.

He was approaching a junction near a bridge over the river Avon when his wagon's lights died; its diesel engine that needed no spark to keep it running, kept running. Assuming some sort of short circuit or blown fuse he pulled up to try to find the course of the failure.

Before he could climb down from his cab he was astonished to see a bizarre "egg shaped object" - it was moving from left to right across the road in front of him at a height of about 25 feet from the ground.

The object was magenta coloured with a white base and was perhaps 80 feet long, big enough to overhang both sides of the road; as it went from left to right it expelled a strong smell like burnt wood and made a sound like a refrigerator.

As it crossed the road it accelerated gradually and after a few seconds it disappeared altogether from sight. Farlow then realised that a Jaguar car which had been coming in the opposite direction was stranded on the other side of the UFOs path; its driver, who was a veterinarian, approached Farlow and explained that his vehicle was out of action and his lady passenger was hysterical; it was then decided that they should call the police.

A call from a nearby booth that was working, (though its lights too were dead), brought the police to the scene shortly afterwards.Their preliminary inspection of the site showed that the road seemed to have melted... which is almost inconceivable in an English winter!

The vets passenger was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for shock, whilst the two men were individually questioned first by the police and secondly by the ministry of Defence.

The next day when Farlow returned to collect his wagon, he saw a bulldozer which was levelling the road... also the phone booth was being re-painted and other people seemed to be investigating the area with instruments.

A week or so later Farlow saw the same stretch of road had been re surfaced some 70 yards or so." End. Source: ATS - Above Top Secret

Now I like this case because of the fact there were multiple witnesses and the site where this took place was physically damaged so some thing definitely did happen.

In addition, we now also have some important additions and corrections from the witness himself: "I am Carl Farlow and over the years I have read so many reports on my U.F.O sighting in 1967, all of them are incorrect in some way or another, and up to now I have not bothered to set matters straight!!

I was in 32 ton lorry, with a diesel engine; the engine did NOT stop, however the truck lost all electrical power; the truck's 2 batteries were flattened and never held charge after; they were taken off the truck by 3 army personnel and replaced.

In the air was a very strong smell of ozone; this smell was around for over 3 hours while we were questioned at the scene, then taken to Bournmouth police station and quizzed again by 2 men from the Ministry of Defence for a further 5 hours.

When we were released I was taken to LARKHILL BARRACKS to collect my truck; when I got back to my depot our mechanics checked the truck out and found the starter, dynamo, regulator and batteries had all been replaced!!

In all, there were several witnesses to this event; indeed, the other car involved suffered extensive electrical damage!!

So dear reader, I hope this helps to set the record straight; there are many other misquotes, but the ones above are the more relevant. many thanks. Carl".
