SW direction, if 12 o'clock is straight above, this was in the 2 o'clock 
position (sorry, I don't know how else to describe it)
Message 
I was out in the back yard looking at the constellations in the sky. 
The moon was bright and located in a SW direction going West; 
the sky was clear but there was a bit of cloud surrounding the moon 
and in front of it like a trailing blanket.

I checked my phone to see when the ISS pass was due which wasn't 
for another hour. I looked back up at the moon and I saw a massive 
bright light coming from the south travelling north.  

The light was MUCH bigger and brighter than the ISS or a shooting 
star and it was travelling slower than the ISS. It moved northwards in 
the clear sky for what looked like quite a few meters and then went 
through the cloud with the light getting brighter. 

Then it abruptly stopped and disappeared! 

Duration of sighting was between 10 and 15 seconds.
