It is many years since I had this sighting so some of the information is 
now a little faded such as the exact date, but my memory of the sighting 
and how I felt is still extremely vivid.

It was a Thursday evening about 9pm in October and I think it was either 
1979 or 1980.  The dog was really agitated and was whining and running 
up and down as if he was distressed. 

I thought he wanted to go out so I opened the back door but he ran away 
from the door as if he was scared so I locked it again.  

I realised there was a sort of pulsing sound coming from outside so I went 
to the back window which overlooked Whitfield Common. 

There was a huge craft hovering over the green in the center of the 
common.

It was a huge circular silver metallic object with large flashing lights around 
the circumference which were flashing on and off in time with the pulsing 
sound I could hear.  The dog was with me and was still really upset and I
was so shocked I could hardly move.

The craft hovered for a few seconds and as I was watching from behind 
the curtain it lowered onto the field.  I think the pulsing noise stopped at 
this point and then everything was dark again.  

I was so scared as I was in the house on my own.  I closed the curtain and 
went to my bedroom on the opposite side of the house and made sure all 
the lights were out.  

I did not sleep until much later as I was listening for noises but heard 
no more that night.  

Since then I have wondered if anybody else saw anything on this night.  

I would be very interested to hear of anybody else who  could add any 
more information or who had seen the same object all those years ago 
as it has always played on my mind.
