"Hi Ken - I know Friday was Guy Fawkes night - here it was a complete washout due to the constant rain. Last night, Saturday the 6th was a little more dry so the din of fireworks began."
"At 8pm I had gone round to the shops to post my Aunt’s birthday card; at the top of the road I spotted one of the orange lights that I had previously seen a couple of months ago coming towards me from the North, two others were behind it. The light was heading overhead quite low and of a speed, which I thought I might get a chance to film, if I ran fast back to the house, which I did.
Fumbling with the little camcorder to switch it on I grabbed my partner towards the front door. She could see, (despite her very poor eyesight) the object to the left and agreed it was most unusual. She was too cold and retreated back indoors.
The first objects passed, and I continued again my walk to the post-box, but this time with the video camera. I posted the letter, then again more objects appeared in the sky above the fireworks.
This I filmed, but was not sure if the camera was charged as the blue light on the record button had not changed to red.
I got back to the bungalow and went inside to get my partner out again, but she was too cold & not interested. I returned outside and squatted the camera on the disabled handrail outside the front door to record yet another object to the left. I was noticing that the blue button was not ever changing to red. I watched as around six other objects at different distances, appeared to the right. I decided to change from pressing the video button to the camera button just under it…(still shots). No flash went off so I was thinking the camera was not working although it was lit up.
A lovely object went right up close over the cricket ground and off towards Shortstown, to the left another close object was heading towards me. It was above a neighbouring bungalow when suddenly a beam of orange light shot down from it for a few seconds; it was moving very slowly - it may have even stopped; I was concentrating on the focus of the camera (zooming in - zooming out). Four times this beam briefly shone down on this neighbours rooftop;
I tried to time catch it as I pressed away at the ‘camera’ (still shot), button.
The beam moved from left to right; it appeared to come off the bungalow rooftop and come towards me; it may have hit the ground, but I was concentrating on the orange orb. I was clicking, but no flash came from the camera. These objects passed and I returned quite frightened in doors straight onto the computer to see if anything was on the card.
Well you know the nightmare I had then. I thought all had not been recorded. I went out every ten minutes for up to one & a half hours. It was freezing, and I was so buzzing I still had forgot to put on a coat!"
