What was this strange flying object seen above Oldham today July 8th, 2019??
It was spotted travelling in the direction of the town 'moving slowly north'.
Was it a bird? Was it a plane? Or was it a drone?
Whatever it was, it certainly caused some confusion in Oldham.
Images and video footage of the black unidentified flying object were sent to the Manchester Evening News on Monday evening.
The object - whatever it is - can be seen hovering in the air above the town.
The sender described seeing the object in the sky above Oldham Hospital at around 4.30pm.
"Any ideas what it was?" they wrote.
"It was in the direction of the town moving slowly North."
he cameraman told the M.E.N: "I have no idea what it was at all because it was moving so slowly I just thought it looked really weird.
"I got the camera out and zoomed in and it was just a weird shape. I thought maybe it was a helium balloon - but it was the wrong shape. I thought it could be a blimp but it was too high and it was darting around a bit.
"It was the wrong shape for a drone too and it was moving some distance.
"I was putting something in the car and looked up for a few seconds and saw it. I thought 'I've got to take a video of this and get the wife's opinion'. She had no idea either.
"My best guess is that it was one of those helium balloon. What I will say is, although it's technically a UFO, I'm certain it's not something from outer space!"
It's not the first time a strange object has been spotted above Greater Manchester.
In 2016 a holiday maker shot a video of a small black object in the sky as he took off from the city’s airport.
Back then official police figures showed that GMP had received 10 reports of UFOs since 2013.
And there have been many more sightings in the years before and others which have not been reported to the police.
In July 2015 footage emerged of strange flashing lights in a cloudy sky about the city which turned the clouds behind a yellow color.
