This case came to our attention today as I was out in the front garden doing a bit of weeding.
A car drove up along the curbside and the woman driver shouted out "excuse me, we moved into No 19 a few months ago, (pointing back to her house) do you happen to know the name of the people who used to live there".
I told her that I knew one of the occupants name was Nicky, (who sadly died at home after having a severe epileptic seizure - and her baby, aged just a few months, also died there) although I wasn't sure of the surname; and then she asked what the name of the Dad was who lived with Nicky, so I had to go back indoors and ask Hilary my partner, (who has been at this address longer than me), and she came out to the woman with the full details.
To cut a long story short, it turned out that some strange things had been happening recently at number 19; pictures had been taken down from the walls in the night; an electric hairdryer plugged in and left on the bed; her daughter had been pinched by invisible hands as she slept, and many other things too.
The woman was in fact on her way to see a Catholic priest about it all, when she spotted me and stopped by to see if I could help with the names and learn anything more about the people who had lived there.
We were aware that the place was in a bit of a state, as nothing had been done there for years; but we were truly shocked to learn that the new owners were being plagued by poltergeist activity.
The frightened expression on her face told the story of what she and her family had been going through; and after listening to what Hilary had to say about the sad lives of Nicky and her Dad, (which involved drink and drug dependency) it makes sense that Nicky's spirit was still there at No 19 and trying to seek attention before hopefully, the priest could show this lost soul a way into the light of the hereafter!
