Latest statement by PC Alan Godfrey
This very night 45years ago 27th November 1980 I left home and headed to my place of work Todmorden Police Station to commence my 10-6 night shift duty.
Being a Copper you never knew what would happen during the shift things could change in the blink of an eye a road accident with serious injuries, a sudden death, a disturbance when the pubs closed anything could happen. A knock on the door to inform them that a loved one had passed away it could be anything you just didn't know.
So what happens in the early hours of the 28th November is of course history and incident would live with me for life.
Thankfully after 4 years of grief from the upper ranks of the Police I finally left the job.
It took me years to get over what they did to me, but I have to say a massive thank you to everyone who support me and encourage me to start writing my book 'Who or What were They ' it took 15yrs to complete and has been 8 yrs since it's publication and still selling around the world.
Thank you everyone for your support over all the last 40 yrs .
Best wishes Alan
